this day, 14th jan 2011

the class is about processing - digital automated drawing machine, using code to create patterns.

i didn't see any patterns teaching in that day, but still we learned some cool drawing machine,

it made by the software processing, using coding,

here is the code.

my major before this course is information management, 

so if i have time i won't refuse to understand what all the codes mean.

looks complex, but actually it's easier than we thought.

we used two kinds of drawing machines, the first one is drawing lines,

the line starts on the top-left hand side, it will draw by following the mouse,

and when you click it again, it will automatically export to pdf file.

this is the lines i created.

with this program, i can draw some images which i have never expected, such as this one.

another program, it will start running the image like colorful smokes randomly, and when you click it again, it will automatically export to pdf file, too.

i created three images, all of them are cool to me.

after finishing the class, on my way home,

i was thinking how could i extend this images into more interesting picture.

i think the image combine with person might be a interesting idea because we are graphic communication design students, we should always focus on communicating with people.

i made a quick sketch of my idea on the bus.

when i got home, i start creating the image,

there's a bit different with my sketch, i don't have the photo of person i want,

 i decided to choose the photo with only head.

here is the outcome.

this one is the first one, after finished this, i think i'm gonna make a collection for all my friends.

so, wish me luck.

new term, new project, new energy

the christmas holidays has ended, i have to more improve myself on the new term.

i'll work harder on my course and blog, start this term.

the first class i joined is the brief of my new project "ditto press"

we went to the work place of ditto press, the room is middle-size but full of their works,

the director Ben introduced the machine of printing and showed some of their works for us.

 this project we are gonna make some prints to let their audiences attract of the printing machine

i really feel exciting about this.

the next day, 11st of Feb 2011, we started researching the skills we need of this project.

because this printing could only print 12 colors in basic, we have to learn creating image in only few color. we start analysing and separating the colour of image. 

this is the image we used to practice, karl wanted us to use the shape of this image to separte the color,

the first part of this photo i catched is the gradient colors of the sky, so i tried to make that in three papers 

at first i felt it doesn't look very well, then i realized it looks nice if looking at it in a distance.

 the second exercise is to make patterns, it's much harder than i thought.

i used the spots to create my first pattern

i put 4 sources of spots together and cut them in center by rolling out.

 finished cutting! 

 i wanted to stick in ordinary at first, but i accidentally found that it might be cool if i made some turn, so final outcome is like this.

i copied it to 4 and sticked them together, it's quite nice i think.

here is another i made, because the first one took me too many time, this one ,

 to me, is the ordinary one.

new "brick lan" movie

this video took me almost 2 months to finish, this time i added some video instead of only photos.

people who had watch this movie said the most interesting part is they couldn't imagine what photos i would put in.

next time i would like to try to use adobe premiere to make video because i would be more professional. 

if anyone has any advise, please share with me.

own future project

commin up after the term is vacation, i wanna make a image of Montage, it surely is a hard work, but i'll try my best to complete it. i know there are softwares to make this kind of style, but i dont wanna use that. handmade rocks!!!

color wall

these days i found a store which i could get color cards of paint for free.

i decided to decorate on my room's wall.

 At first, i just got few of them because it was my friend who told me there are color card in that store, she just took some of them for me. After putting on the wall, i decided to collect all colors of cards, i started searching them.

 this collection took me long time to complete because i rebuilt them three times. But i really like it right now.

because of the color, it looks like a wave if audiences look at it from a distance.

After finishing this color cards wall, i really interest in the style of "Montage", but it seems like a hard work. i'll start researching about Montage after finishing this term, i'll try my best to complete this own project.

just like printing on the road

last night, i found an interesting view, 

the fallen leafs had been ground by cars,

 it looks just like printing leafs on the road, looks really beautiful

tate modern

i went to tate modern museum today.this is the second time i've been there, but it is still great.

 first of all, at the turbine hall, we saw a new exhibition from wei wei Ai, an artist. he created about a hundred million ceramics sunflower seeds. it is sooo cool. it used to let audiences walk on seeds, but unfortunately, it's unable to do that anymore because it creates dusts a lot....

after that, we went in the gallery, i was surprised and exciting to see andy warhol's works, he is my fevorite graphic designer.
